My role profile in this position included the following:

  • Provide emergency accommodation in a safe and supportive environment for homeless people while motivating them to move on to more appropriate accommodation.
  • Manage admission to the shelter. Provide bed space in appropriate accommodation based on initial assessment / referral from other projects.
  • Carry out Health and Safety checks and procedures.
  • Build a relationship with residents based on trust & respect by accepting people as they are, spending time with them, actively listening and challenging them positively.
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate social events for residents.
  • Assess with the person their current status and needs for accommodation, health, income etc.
  • Review the information and generate actions required.
  • Advocate for residents with service providers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records/residents files to facilitate provision of care.
  • Participate in the supervision process and implement the personal development plan as devised with the supervisor.
